Our wedding day, August 15th, 2020, was nothing short of perfect. Due to COVID, we took our wedding to my grandparent’s farm in Cheboygan, MI. This place, “the Farm,” is a very special place to me. The ceremony was held at The Shrine, also known as “Cross in the Woods” in Indian River. The ceremony was outside, and we were accompanied by our family and friends who were able to witness Nathan and I exchange our vows. Following the ceremony, we headed to Mackinac and captured the most beautiful pictures with the Mackinac Bridge. We ended the evening at the Farm with a lovely dinner and lots of dancing! Nathan and I were truly blessed to have such a beautiful wedding up north.
My favorite part of our wedding day was walking down the aisle with my dad and son Lincoln, and seeing my soon-to-be husband’s face. Also, looking into the faces of our loved ones was so special. I will forever remember this moment.
My advice to current brides to be is to enjoy the process and stay organized! Wedding planning can be very stressful, but it can also be fun and exciting. I encourage all brides-to-be to try to look for the positive in every stage of their wedding planning. Also, keep a checklist of wedding to-do’s and deadlines; this was helpful for me to stay organized and less stressed!
My wedding advice for current brides to be is to enjoy every part of the big day! Your wedding day flies by and will be over in a blink of an eye, which is why it’s important to enjoy every second and everything that is thrown at you that day. Everything may not pan out exactly how you envisioned, but it’s ok—go with the flow, have fun, and dance the night away with your new husband.
Although our wedding day was postponed many times, there is nothing I would change about our special day! I always dreamt of getting married up north and it finally came true on August 15th, 2020. Nathan and I will forever be grateful to our family and friends who made our big day happen up north.
