My wedding ended up being on the day the weather was calling for an “ice-pocalypse”. My five girls and I started our morning out at Chasing Vanity Salon getting hair and makeup. Then, we made our way to the Amway hotel to get dressed and take pictures. My husband and I decided on a doing a first look, and it was perfect. Our party bus was only able to get us to the venue because of the weather so half our party drove their own cars and half the party took the bus to English Hills Country Club. We rented two rooms: one for the wedding ceremony and one for the reception. We had a lot of things go wrong leading up to, and day of, the wedding but it was perfect. I felt like an ice princess at her winter wonderland wedding.
My husband and I’s first look. It was exciting and nerve wracking to see him for the first time on our wedding day. I loved that we got to have that special moment together.
I loved that I had over a full year to plan everything. I didn’t feel stressed or overwhelmed by having a shorter engagement period. Definitely find your venue, food, and photographer (NeriPhoto is the best!) as soon as possible. Also, don’t let your friend make your dress for you…even if she is a designer.
Whatever happens, happens. Don’t worry about the small things because something, or multiple things, will go wrong. Just be present and enjoy your day!
The only thing I might change is who I had stand up for me. Think long and hard about who you want in your photos and who really deserves to be such a big part of your day. Don’t let hurt feelings, or the idea of them, dictate your bridal party.
