Q&A with The English Inn
Q: Tell us about The English Inn: is the venue family owned, how long has it been in operation, etc…
A: The English Inn is a Tudor-revival style English mansion built in 1927 for the President of Oldsmobile, Irving Reuter. He and his wife Janet lived and lavishly entertained here in the 1920’s and 30’s and the property has retained all of the ambiance and charm of back then. The home was converted into an inn, restaurant, and wedding venue in 1989 and has been family-owned and operated since. The English Inn consists of 20 suites on property, a fine dining restaurant with multiple dining rooms—each with their own esthetic, an old English-style pub, fondly named the Dickens’ Pub, and finally…Medovue Hall—a 200-guest wedding venue and event space looking over our well-manicured 15 acres on the Grand River. Medovue Hall, the property’s original namesake, is fit for weddings both large and small, grandiose or intimate. It boasts a marble foyer in the grand entrance, ballroom with chandeliers, garden level area for cocktail hour, and a large stone patio—all with grand views of the English gardens and Grand River.
Q: Why Bridal? What can you share about going the extra mile in curating a stress-free experience for a couple’s special day?
A: Weddings seem effortless once you set foot on our property. The sprawling estate is perfectly set up to accommodate all aspects of a wedding. Rehearsal, rehearsal dinner, overnight accommodations, breakfast, ceremony, reception, photography locations, and parking are all taken care of. We offer four wedding packages to help create exactly the wedding you want while also keeping you at ease and in the know about the costs involved. The packages we have designed have evolved over time to encompass all of the most popular options we offer but can be tailored to fit your personal preferences. Years of experience have left us with the knowledge necessary to make sure none of the details go unnoticed.
Q: Do you have any tips or suggestions in educating couples about the industry and the value in partnering with your company?
A: There are only 20 Saturdays during prime wedding season so being flexible on your dates is going to go a long way in getting your dream wedding location. If you are hosting a smaller gathering possibly consider Friday or Sunday events. Both days have a higher chance of availability and usually will come with reduced costs associated with the venue rental. Also, package pricing is a great way to avoid the hassle of the smaller, less obvious details. Booking a wedding package takes the stress out of the process and leads to a more enjoyable planning experience.
Q: How do you stand out from the rest?
A: The property and the people that make it run are what makes the English Inn stand out as a wedding venue. The architecture, styling, and the grounds lend themselves to a storybook wedding. Photographers love working here as every corner of the property is a new photo opportunity. Brides can expect an unbelievably beautiful entrance through our garden paths for their walk down the aisle ending with family and friends at the pergola or trellis—truly an unmatched entrance walk. Our service staff is sincere in its will to give you the most memorable day of your lives. Practiced and polished, they are ready to help you from planning and execution to realization.
